Winter Window Stories, Chapter 2 - Portland Winter Light Festival

Winter Window Stories: St. Johns, Mississippi, Morrison, Cully, Montavilla, Hawthorne, Foster, Lents

Prosper Portland is a proud sponsor of the 9th Annual Portland Winter Light Festival, which takes place from Friday, February 2 to Saturday, February 10. The Winter Light Festival uses light-based art to invigorate Portland in the winter and showcase creative collaborations between retailers and artists. This festival attracts more than 200,000 visitors annually and features more than 120 art installations and more than 300 artists and performers at locations all over Portland.

The Winter Light Festival has created a variety of ways to experience the festival, including a downtown walking map, a roaming dance party bus, and free transit on the Portland Streetcar after 5 pm.

Small business owners are also joining the festivities! Following the success of Chapter One of the our Winter Window Stories, which brought visitors to neighborhoods and small businesses all over Portland, we have created a series of unique, illuminated Shop Small PDX Winter Window Stories as part of the Winter Light Festival, in addition to hosting an exhibition at the Portland Winter Ice Rink.

These installations will welcome residents and visitors to each of these eight participating neighborhoods, alongside the Winter Ice Rink:

  • St Johns – 8426 N. Lombard

  • Mississippi - 3905 N Mississippi

  • SW Morrison - 206 SW Morrison & 301 SW Morrison

  • Portland Winter Ice Rink - 499 SW Naito Pkwy

  • Lower Hawthorne - 2045 SE Hawthorne Blvd

  • Foster - 6258 SE Foster

  • Lents Commons – 5859 SE 92nd Avenue

  • Montavilla - 8001 NE Glisan

  • Cully - 4636 NE 42nd

Begin your journey in each neighborhood at the the Winter Light Festival installation and experience the wonder that local artists have designed for your viewing delight.  Each window is inspired by the area’s local small businesses and presents a design that represents the community.

These Winter Window Stories will inspire you to return throughout the year to visit the local shops or restaurants that you’ve fallen in love with. Discover gems in each neighborhood or community and continue supporting the local business owners who are the backbone of our city and state economy.

Portlanders love their neighborhoods and communities and Shop Small PDX Winter Window Stories are the perfect way for families and individuals to share a uniquely Portland experience this holiday season. After enjoying each window installation, take some time to walk around the neighborhood – stop into local shops, grab a bite to eat at a new restaurant, or warm up with a warm beverage or sweet treat from a local coffee shop or bakery.

Portland is full of wonderful communities that are just waiting to be discovered. Which window will you see first?
