7 Places to Explore Portland: Shop Small PDX Winter Window Stories

This winter, bundle up and get outside to explore Portland and the diverse neighborhoods and communities that make up this beautiful city.

Prosper Portland is introducing its newest initiative, Shop Small PDX Winter Window Stories. These unique window art installations welcome residents and visitors to learn more about the inspiring stories of Portland neighborhoods, as told by local businesses and artists.

Explore story windows in these Portland neighborhoods throughout the winter season:

  • Williams - 3808 N Williams Ave Suite B

  • Cully - 4636 NE 42nd

  • Lower Hawthorne - 2045 SE Hawthorne Blvd

  • St Johns – 8426 N. Lombard

  • Montavilla - 8028 SE Stark St

  • Foster - 6258 SE Foster

  • Lents Commons – 5859 SE 92nd Avenue

Begin your journey in each neighborhood at the holiday story window and experience the wonder that local craftspeople and artists have designed for your viewing delight.  Each window is inspired by the area’s local small businesses and presents a design that represents the community.

In February 2024, the Window Stories will change over to celebrate the Winter Light Festival, bringing beauty and light to each street. The Portland Winter Light Festival uses light-based art to invigorate Portland in the winter and showcase creative collaborations between retailers and artists.

The Window Stories will inspire you to return throughout the year to visit the local shops or restaurants that you’ve fallen in love with. Discover gems in each neighborhood or community and continue supporting the local business owners who are the backbone of our city and state economy.

Portlanders love their neighborhoods and communities and Shop Small PDX Winter Window Stories are the perfect way for families and individuals to share a uniquely Portland experience this holiday season. After enjoying each window installation, take some time to walk around the neighborhood – stop into local shops, grab a bite to eat at a new restaurant, or warm up with a warm beverage or sweet treat from a local coffee shop or bakery.

Portland is full of wonderful communities that are just waiting to be discovered. Which window will you see first?
