Small Business Week – May 2-8
The first week of May marks National Small Business Week – an annual celebration of small business owners throughout the country. Small businesses account for half of America’s workforce, and more new jobs come from small business than any other source. It’s no different here in Portland, where small businesses are the key to our economic growth and post-pandemic recovery.
The celebration offers businesses the opportunity to promote their brands; customers can participate by shopping local and supporting your favorite Portland entrepreneurs.
Promote your business:
Starting May 1, Google will offer a collection of online resources to help small business owners learn how to get on the web and in front of customers who are searching online and on the go. Learn more.
Share your story: You started your business for a reason - don’t keep your story a secret! Use it to stand out from the competition and get closer to your customers.
Say thank you: Who makes your business possible? Customers? A great staff? Take a moment to show your appreciation.
Invest in education: Learn new skills and increase your impact.
Partner with another small business: Are you close to other small businesses in your area? Strengthen your impact and reach a larger audience by joining forces.
Get the word out: Don’t miss out on Small Business Week just because you’re having a busy week. Spread the word to your supporters - send an email announcing Small Business Week and encourage your customers to support you.
