Shopping safely

How to shop safely – online and in stores

Plenty of options are available to shop safely at downtown and neighborhood businesses throughout the city. Start by searching ShopSmallPDX and filter for curbside pickup, delivery, and gift card services – you're likely to find a way to make a local purchase and still limit contact with others.

  •  If you’re going out, use a face covering. Multnomah County offers several tips on use, where to buy and current requirements.

  • Check your shop destination website (linked in our directory) for information about how it’s handling customer care and contact.

  • Make a list and shop quickly if you’re going to a bricks-and-mortar location.

  • If you decide to visit a store, practice social distancing while shopping – keeping at least 6 feet between you, other shoppers, and store employees. Keep your hands away from your face. Use hand sanitizer before you arrive and after you leave (many shops are providing it onsite). Wash your hands with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds when you return home and again after you put away your purchases.

  •  For more about daily living precautions, visit Multnomah County’s website.
